Item description from seller

B & W photos and figures, some folding; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 266 pages; 1901 J. B. Lippincott Company. HC 3rd edition, revised and enlarged. Xxiv, 266pp. Publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt to spine and in black to cover. Illustrated with full-page photographic plates, manny folding, and in-text figures. Sound binding with light shelfwear at corners and spine ends. Prior owner’s distinctive signatures to front flyleaf and recto of frontis—executed with contrasting flourishes, possibly in playful mimicry of the subject under study. Text clean and unmarked. A scarce and foundational forensic handwriting analysis text by the American geologist and early document examiner. This third edition includes expanded material on questioned document analysis and reflects Frazer's efforts to establish "bibliotics" as a scientific discipline. VG.
