Chapter One
Summer had just set in and Mr. Smiley the Sun, had a proud smile on his face, he knew that everyone was going to love him, for he was going to give everyone the best tan ever. It was not like Spring any more - it was a hot Summer! A Summer that Bibia was waiting for, all this while.Bibia had already made picnic plans for herself. She knew how she was going to enjoy this wonderful season. Yes, she was going to show off her beautiful set of wings, flutter and dance around, and sip cool icy lemonade. "This is indeed a gorgeous day", said Bibia. "But I wish I had some friends today", sighed Bibia.
Just as Bibia was twirling and fluttering her wings, she saw the forest friends coming towards her - "Ah! forest friends!" whispered Bibia. "Are they coming to be my friends?" wondered Bibia. "Do you want me to be your friend?" whispered Bibia, but a little louder this time. She was nervous; she did not know what was going to happen.
"Yes, indeed Bibia, we would like you to be our friend" said the Mr. Squeaky Squirrel. "You look so majestic" said the surprised Miss Rollie the Wren. Bibia could not express her happiness, she not only has beautiful colors on her wings, but now, she also has great friends, the forest friends. Bibia had this wonderful feeling that she would have these friends forever - Lucky Bibia!
Bibia invited her new forest friends to stay for the picnic. Mr. Bouncy the Bunny was now enjoying playing frisbee with Mr. Squeaky the Squirrel. Miss Rollie the Wren thanked Bibia for the wonderful time that they were having, while sipping her glass of cool lemonade. "Did you know that in different parts of the world, people call us by our different names?" said Bibia.
"No! we did not know that," said Ms. Rollie. "Well," said Bibia, "in Spanish we are called Mariposa, in Italian we are called, Farfalla, in French we are called, Papillon, and in Hindi we are called, Titili. The forest friends started to like Bibia's company. They liked the way Bibia talked, the way she laughed. They wanted to know more about Bibia.
Mr. Squeaky said, "Bibia, we know you are a butterfly, but tell us a little more about you." Bibia then fluttered her wings to the left, and then to the right and said, "I am a butterfly as you know, but I belong to the family of insects." "Insects?" muttered the surprised Miss Rollie. "How can insects be so beautiful," wondered Mr. Bouncy.
Bibia knew this was going to be great, she was now happy, excited, overjoyed - she was waiting for this, yes - she was waiting for this moment so she could tell her friends the wonderful story of a butterfly - Bibia tells her story!
Bibia took a deep sigh, and on she went, " I am a butterfly, and I belong to the family of insects. We insects have six legs and three body parts. You will not believe this, but our mouth is like a long straw, we love flowers, we sit on the flowers and sip the sweet nectar through the straw like mouth that we have."
"Guess what?" Bibia said, "we butterflies, can see three colors, red, yellow and green, and we are nearly 20,000 species of butterflies in the whole wide world, and they say 'Papilio Ulysses' is one of the most beautiful butterflies." 'No, Bibia," said Miss Rollie, "I think you are the most beautiful butterfly in the whole wide world, you have a kind heart and you asked us to stay for the picnic and that was so kind of you." Bibia smiled and thanked her forest friends for being so kind to her, and promised them that she will try her best to come back with more stories of butterflies; and off they went their ways saying 'good bye' to each other.
