Want to give your sewing projects cleaner, neater, more professional-looking edges—even if you're a complete beginner?
Have you ever struggled with uneven binding, bulky seams, wavy fabric edges, or bias tape that refuses to lie flat around curves and corners? Are you tired of guessing how wide to cut your fabric, how to join strips neatly, or how to fold and press tape for a smooth finish?
You don't have to keep guessing.
Bias Tape Making For Beginners is a practical, step-by-step guide designed to help you understand, make, and sew your own bias tape with greater accuracy and confidence.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
-
Choose the right fabric and tools for making bias tape without unnecessary expense.
-
Measure, mark, and cut fabric on the true bias to create more accurate, consistent strips.
-
Join fabric strips with diagonal seams for longer lengths with less visible bulk.
-
Fold and press bias tape neatly by hand or with a bias tape maker.
-
Sew bias binding onto fabric edges while learning to manage curves, corners, and challenging shapes.
-
Create cleaner finishes on garments, bags, and quilts using techniques suited to different projects.
-
Identify and correct common sewing problems, including puckering, uneven widths, bulky joins, and untidy edges.
Whether you're learning to finish a neckline, bind a handmade bag, add a neat edge to an apron, or complete a quilt, you'll build your skills one manageable step at a time.
You'll also find helpful reference charts, checklists, and worksheets to make it easier to review measurements, check your progress, and return to important techniques whenever you need them.
No need to master everything at once. Start with simple fabric and basic tools, practise each stage, and gradually build the confidence to tackle more demanding finishes.
Imagine completing your next sewing project and seeing a smooth, consistent edge that looks as carefully finished as the rest of your work.
Ready to stop struggling with uneven binding and start creating cleaner fabric edges?
