Synopsis:

It sounded simple enough: emulate their screen heroes by riding motorbikes to Eastern Europe in aid of a children's charity. But Bob & Viv Goddard were nervous grandparents, not fit youngsters on sponsored bikes with a back-up crew.

About the Author: Bob Goddard was for 20 years a journalist and editor with EMAP, IPC, Southern Newspapers and other publishing companies.
Working mainly in magazine publishing, Bob wrote for, edited and published titles such as: Motor Cycle News, Amateur Winemaker, Motorcycle Mechanics, Motorcycling Magazine, Tennis, Southern Life etc.
Since 1992 he has run his own marketing and distribution business and he is also a yacht broker.
Viv Goddard, Bob's wife since 1972, has run pre-school playgroups and worked in child day-care nurseries, but most of her energy has been reserved for bringing up her own family.
Viv first rode a motorcycle in 1998 and soon became addicted. Following a succession of smaller bikes and training, Viv took possession of a 650cc Honda Transalp, the bike she rode 'Beyond Bucharest'.
In recent years Bob & Viv have travelled widely, usually exploring far from the tourist trail on motorbikes to experience the colour, culture and humour that are often overlooked.
These off-beat travels have included: Cuba, Turkey, Cyprus, Egypt, Montenegro and New Zealand, the latter being the subject of 'Land Of The Long Wild Road', their first book.
For this book, 'Beyond Bucharest' they rode from the UK to the Black Sea and back again.
Bob & Viv have three grown up children and two grandchildren. They live in rural Norfolk, England
