New York: Published by Ernest Gee at his Book and Print Shop 1937 5 1/2" x 10 1/4" Ex-libris Claiborne Pell Claiborne de Borda Pell GCC GCM (November 22, 1918 January 1, 2009) was an American politician and writer who served as a U.S. Senator from Rhode Island for six terms from 1961 to 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, Pell was the longest serving U.S. Senator from Rhode Island. The Meadow Brook Hounds, founded in 1877, was, in its heyday between WWI and WWII, one of the premier American packs, hunting an area of open country and large estates on Long Island's North Shore that--for hunting purposes--has ceased to exist. Living in the area, and a faithful follower of the pack, Betty (Mrs. Richard F.) Babcock, a talented amateur artist, kept a hunting diary in which she recorded the details of each meet, enlivening her pages with a series of captioned drawings, most of them showing members of the field in picturesque difficulties. The form of that diary - a paradigm is reproduced here Ernest Gee's delightful reproduction.
