First Edition. Covers heavily scuffed with rubbed edges. Cover corner and tips fraying. No DJ. Hinges cracked but stitched binding is holding. No loose pages. Previous owner name in pencil and in ink on front free page: Alfred Watermire, Christmas, December 15, 1924. 4 years old. No other markings in book. Some pages soiled with little finger page turning marks. Illustrated superbly by Ethel Franklin Betts, a student of Howard Pyle (1853-1911). 8 full color plates of Bett's paintings.One page got stuck to another page (page 1) at the bottom edge spine area.
