Print on Demand. This book by the author compiles the Life of Saint Columba as written by Manus O'Donnell in 1532. It was translated from an original manuscript and edited to provide historical context, an examination of the author's sources, and an exploration of the ideas the book presents. The book also provides insight into the medieval context of the life of Saint Columba and how later generations viewed his life and work. The book discusses the themes of faith, power, and the role of the Church in the medieval era, ultimately using the life of Saint Columba as a lens to understand medieval society. This book will appeal both to general readers with an interest in the period and to scholars of religious history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
