Constance Pratt, Gavin Press. Author: Constance PrattBinding: HardbackPublished: Gavin Press, 1979Condition:Book: GoodJacket: Very goodPages: Tanning and foxingMarkings: No markingsCondition remarks: Light tanning and foxing to some pages, Bess chronicles the tumultuous life of Bess Throckmorton, a spirited lady-in-waiting within the intricate court of Queen Elizabeth I. This historical novel vividly portrays the clandestine romance between Bess and the ambitious Sir Walter Raleigh, a relationship fraught with peril and royal disapproval. The narrative illustrates the challenges and triumphs of a woman navigating the rigid social structures and political intrigues of 16th-century England. It presents a compelling account of love, loyalty, and resilience against a backdrop of historical grandeur and personal sacrifice. Pratt masterfully details the emotional landscape of her characters, drawing readers into a world of passion and power.
