Item description from seller

Blue cloth with silver lettering on spine. Very fine with pictorial dust jacket. From the jacket. "No general in American history has been more libeled and vilified than Benjamin Franklin Butler. But, judged on th ample record, the man the South called "Beast" was in truth one of the greats of his time- and one of the most compassionate".
