Signed and dated 'Ditchingham 1914' by Rider Haggard on half title page. On front pastedown is a label for 'DIK: A Dog of Belgium' by Elizabeth Banks and sold by 'The Authors' Belgian Fund' to help destitute Belgian children. Above is a handwritten note 'This book was presented by Rider Haggard to The Authors' Belgian Fund. Benita was first published in September 1906 and this is the first reprint of the same date. With 16 B&W illustrations by Gordon Browne. A few small 'worm' holes at one edge of spine but a tidy copy in tight binding. A contribution to the 1st World War effort. Used - Good.
