Item description from seller

In Hebrew. 414 pages. 200 x 125 mm. Pages slightly yellowed. Parables and wisdom by Rabbi Avraham Chasdai. Based on an Arabic translation by Barlaam and Josaphat, the work of 35 chapters was first composed in Greek, was translated into Arabic and from Arabic into Hebrew. This work by Avraham ben Hasdai HaLevi consists of fables, riddles and moral lessons in rhyme, poetry and prose, via a debate and conversation between a prince and a priest. Published at the behest of Rabbi Yechezkel Eliezer Abulafia, with a poetic preface by him and it includes the prefaces from the earlier editions. Rabbi Yechezkel Eliezer Abulafia was among the leaders of the Tiberias community. He was an emissary to Leghorn (Livorno), Italy, and published this work there.
