Paperback. "An often unexplored, isolated realm in Northeast India, where a river once sang and sustained life, now bears witness to its slow undoing. Kunfuk, bound by blood and spirit to the river Nulfulu, watches in quiet agony as it dries, floods, and falters under the weight of climate change, modernity, and greed. As his tribe abandons the ancestral land in search of survival, Kunfuk stays behind as the last ambassador of a vanishing way of life. Even his own children begin to confront him, urging him to sell the land when oil is discovered beneath their soil. With money to be made and the future uncertain, they see profit but he sees betrayal. But when the pandemic freezes the machinery of progress, the river briefly breathes again. With his grandchildren by his side, Kunfuk dares to dream once more. Together, they launch an unexpected fight to restore what was lost. Can their defiance really stop the inevitable? Evocative, intimate, and immersive, O My Beloved River is a moving blend of love, loss, and resistance in the face of environmental collapse and the passage of time. It is a story of one man's unwavering determination and the enduring power of connection to reshape how we imagine progress, belonging, and the future of our shared ecology." O My Beloved River is a powerful tale of love, loss, and resistance. Set in Northeast India, it follows Kunfuk, the last guardian of the river Nulfulu, as he struggles against climate change, greed, and abandonment. When hope flickers during the pandemic, he and his grandchildren fight to restore what was lost-a moving story of resilience, belon. This item is printed on demand.
