Young, spirited and rebellious, Emily Carr escaped a strict Victorian household to study art in the Paris of Picasso and Matisse. In middle age, she shook the dust of acceptable society from her shoes and began a passionate journey into the wilderness of British Columbia; the power of her genius made her one of the twentieth century's great painters. Emily Carr's passionate nature paintings have been compared to those of Georgia O'Keeffe, Edvard Munch and Vincent van Gogh. This volume pairs 40 of Carr's most popular paintings with quotations from her writing, which is still widely read today. The introductory text by Robin Laurence tells the story of Carr's unconventional life, and the development of her art. Designed with a focus on the seminal works of Carr's career, and packaged as an affordable paperback, Beloved Land is an ideal gift book. Emily Carr has begun to gain international notoriety, beginning with her exhibition with O'Keefe & Khalo in 2002. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.…

Since then, we've grown into to a global company pioneering the circular economy. Today, we drive the circular economy through three re-commerce brands: - Wob: Through Wob, we sell. We provide affordable, preloved books and media to customers all over the world. A book leaves our collection of over seven million titles and begins a new chapter every two seconds, enabling more goods to be reused. - Ziffit: Through Ziffit, we buy. We give people around the world the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy, earn money and protect the planet, by trading their unwanted books and media. - Shopiago: Through Shopiago, we help others. By sharing the technology that has grown World of Books Group into the business it is today, we’re helping charities increase revenue and reduce waste through re-commerce.…
