Hold the book. Open the door. Enter the world of the Wand Maker’s Son.
Some doors are locked to keep danger out.
Others are locked to keep the truth inside.
Nine-year-old Pip Vale lives above a magical repair shop where broken wands remember their owners, old objects hide powerful intentions, and doors do not always lead where they should.
His father, Silas, has given him three important rules:
Never enter the workshop alone.
Never touch an unfinished wand.
Never open the black cabinet with no hinges.
Pip has followed those rules for most of his life.
Mostly.
Then a frightened girl named Nessa bursts through the forbidden cabinet from Alderwatch, a kingdom where every child has been locked indoors for their own protection. Every door, window and gate is controlled by a powerful royal wand that believes keeping children safe means never allowing them to choose.
Pip crosses the impossible doorway to help rescue Nessa’s younger brother. But Alderwatch is filled with watchmen, living locks and magic that reacts to every frightened thought. To free the kingdom, Pip must challenge a grieving king, survive the memories inside a damaged wand and learn that opening every door can be just as dangerous as closing them all.
Yet the greatest secret is waiting back at Vale Repairs.
A magpie named Piper once lived there.
His memories feel strangely like Pip’s own.
And an ancient forest beyond the doors has begun listening for both of their names.
The forest has heard him.
The next door is already opening.
This paperback edition of Behind the Door with No Hinges includes detailed black-and-white fantasy illustrations featuring magical wands, enchanted objects, Piper’s impossible nest, the mysterious black cabinet and the legendary door hidden beneath the roots.
A spellbinding fantasy adventure filled with wand magic, hidden kingdoms, friendship, family secrets, humour, danger and unforgettable choices.
Perfect for readers aged 9 - 15 who love magical worlds, mysterious objects, brave young heroes and stories that demand one more chapter.
