Absurd, enlightening and moving, Before it Gets Dark is filled with stories of the travels of a man who wanted nothing more than to ask a few questions and connect a few dots in a world where darkness is trending but where there is still enough light to see God's hand moving in profound ways. Throughout this book, Philip C. Johnson recounts his personal experiences in the years since 9/11 as he witnesses history in the making. Along the way he visits with Osama Bin Laden's former bodyguard in Yemen, joins protests in Egypt during the Arab Spring, stands with Kurdish soldiers on the front lines with ISIS in Iraq and sometimes just hangs out with monks in Nepal. On his journeys, he has gathered more than a few adventures, stumbled upon some rare insights and lived a little bigger than he ever expected.
