Oversized hardcover in olive green cloth lettered and decorated in black. Revised edition. 205 pp. Illustrated throughout with instructional photos and diagrams of dance steps. Generally fine in the original dust jacket, tattered but complete. A classic WWII-era guide to dancing by Americas famed dance instructor, Arthur Murray, Murray (born Moses Teichman, 1895-1991) was born in Austria-Hungary but was brought to America by his family when he was but two years. At age 19, he went to New York and became a dance instructor at the Battery Park Hotel. With the out break of WWI, he changed his German sounding name to Murray. He produced dance-instruction records for the Columbia Gramophone Company. he studied business and founded his company with the name "Arthur Murray Studios". His television show "The Arthur Murray Party" in which he starred with his wife, ran on CBS for 11 seasons 1950-1960. His name became synonymous with dance lessons and at its peak there were over 3500 Arthur Murray Dance Studios.
