The sapphire known as the Blue Water has disappeared, and so has Beau, the oldest of the Geste brothers. John and Digby can't believe their brother is a thief and refuse to allow him to shoulder the blame alone, following his footsteps into the ranks of the French Foreign Legion. This ever-popular tale of adventure, courage, and suspense has inspired several movie versions.
About the Author: Percival Christopher Wren (1875-1941) was a prolific author of adventure fiction whose novels and short stories chiefly tell of colonial soldiering in Africa. He served as headmaster at India's Karachi High School for two decades, after which he is reputed to have joined the French Foreign Legion. Although the proof of his military service is inconclusive, Wren's fictional accounts of life among the legionnaires are noted for the accuracy of their details.
