Handmade all original traditional beaded South African Xhosa Knopkierie (18 inches) and beaded pipe (14 inches). Highly decorative and meticulously worked. A small unraveling of beadwork at pipe mouthpiece (see images). Sold as a pair. [Xhosa, formerly spelled Xosa, a group of mostly related peoples living primarily in Eastern Cape province, South Africa. They form part of the southern Nguni and speak mutually intelligible dialects of Xhosa, a Bantu language of the Niger-Congo family]. N.B. A knobkerrie, also spelled knobkerry, knobkierie, and knopkierie, is a form of wooden club, used mainly in Southern and Eastern Africa. Typically they have a large knob at one end and can be used for throwing at animals in hunting or for clubbing an enemy's head.!
