Item description from seller

Blue cloth. No jacket. 394 pp. With illustrated plates throughout. Written just after World War I, this travelogue provides a history of the villages and cities along the Seine in France, asserting that the charm of this river was overlooked until it was found navigable by large boats in World War I. Dodd discusses French history as it relates to the Seine, as well as documenting Havre, Rouen, Caudebec, Trouville and Deauville, among other towns. Also detailed are the various World War I battlefields in and around Amiens, providing an account of the battle at Amiens. GOOD condition. Light fading to the covers, heavier along the spine, with an area of browning near the foot. Light soiling, rubbing and edgewear. Foxing present to the page edges, with minor foxing scattered throughout the book. Browning and offsetting to the endpapers. Text clean and solid.
