Basics of Corporate Accounting is an insightful and student-friendly textbook tailored to meet the academic requirements of undergraduate programs aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Blending clarity with conceptual depth, this book serves as the perfect entry point for learners seeking to understand the foundational pillars of corporate accounting in a modern, easy-to-grasp format.
This carefully structured book is divided into three essential chapters, each designed to guide students through the core elements of corporate financial practices:
Chapter 1: Introduction of Companies
This chapter lays a solid foundation by introducing the concept of companies-their nature, formation, types, and legal identity. It also highlights the significance of corporate structure and governance, offering learners a well-rounded view of the business landscape within the legal framework of the Companies Act.
Chapter 2: Understanding of Financial Statements
Students are introduced to the building blocks of corporate finance, including the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, and Cash Flow Statement. With a strong focus on interpretation, analysis, and relevance, this chapter transforms financial statements from static documents into powerful tools for decision-making and transparency.
Chapter 3: Accounting for Issue of Shares and Debentures
This practical chapter walks readers through one of the most important aspects of corporate funding-raising capital. From the issue of shares at par, premium, or discount, to the redemption of debentures and handling forfeiture or reissue, every concept is explained with clarity and reinforced with step-by-step journal entries and examples.
What Makes This Book Stand Out:
Developed as per NEP 2020 curriculum guidelines
Written in clear, accessible language with practical focus
Rich with examples, solved illustrations, and real-world context
Includes end-of-chapter recaps and practice exercises for effective learning
Ideal for students of B. Com, BBA, and other commerce-based undergraduate programs.
