The reviewer from Long Island who criticized my book was probably disappointed because it was not as extensive as what he might have expected from a much more comprehensive work. This book is a basic---repeat, basic---dictionary and is intended for students and users who do not expect as thorough a work as, say, my Oxford Thesaurus, which contains some 250,000 synonyms.
