Each card is 13.5x9 cm. This is a group of 8 (of 9) trade cards printed by Cosack & Co. and used by Peck and Snyder as advertisements. The group consists of one card for each of the players on a baseball team, except for right field which apparently was never published. This group lacks the Batter card. Good to very good condition (not graded) with signs of wear particularly at the corners. The left fielder has an abrasion at the top right corner and is missing the bottom left corner. 6 of the 8 appear to have been trimmed close at the bottom, but close examination reveals the Cosack & Co. imprint line at the bottom of the image. This would suggest that the close trimming was intentional. The two cards which have a full margin at the bottom (left field and centre field) have the imprint line in that margin. The set is known among card collectors as the Circle Position Series, referring to the large and prominent background circle found on all cards. This group of cards was used by a number of different retailers, notably Marshall & Ball, with sets offered often having different companies advertised. That makes this set, which features a single company Peck & Snyder, quite unusual. The versos of all of the cards have the same design, featuring 8 different Peck & Snyder products including a catcher's mask, roller skate, and high-wheel bicycle. American Card Catalogue H804-11.
