Print on Demand. A foundational text for Christians, this book examines the sacrament of Baptism and its doctrines as presented in the Book of Common Prayer, focusing on the Church of England and its history. The author reveals that before the Reformation the Church of England was deeply entrenched in Roman Catholic traditions, with much of the Bible's contents forbidden to the public. Baptism was used as a magical, superstitious rite and not as a sacred symbol of cleansing and renewal. With the Reformation, the Church of England re-examined the Bible and established a central tenet that all are born in sin and only through the sacrament of Baptism can one gain redemption and become part of Christ's holy Church, grafted in as a member. The author explores the doctrine of baptismal regeneration, the belief that Baptism washes away the stain of original sin and endows the recipient with the Holy Spirit and thereby makes them a child of God, opening the way for eternal salvation. This text not only interprets the theological underpinnings of the Book of Common Prayer but also delves into the historical context of the Reformation and the doctrinal shifts it brought. Through a meticulous analysis of scripture, the author presents the Church of England's doctrine of baptismal regeneration and explores its implications for personal conduct and the education of children. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
