Regain Your Balance, Rebuild Your Confidence, and Stay Independent—Without Leaving Your Home!
Are you starting to feel unsteady on your feet? Do you worry that a slip or fall could cost you your independence?
You are not alone. As we age, our balance naturally declines, and the fear of falling can keep us from doing the things we love. Unfortunately, this fear creates a vicious cycle: moving less makes our bodies weaker and stiffer, which actually increases the risk of falling.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
In Balance and Your Body: How Exercise Can Help You Avoid a Fall, fitness professional Amanda Sterczyk provides a gentle, step-by-step roadmap to fall-proofing your body. Designed specifically for older adults, this book offers safe, functional exercises that can be easily done at home.
Inside this life-changing guide, you will discover:
- The Three Pillars of Balance: Understand how your visual, vestibular, and somatosensory systems work together to keep you upright.
- Simple, At-Home Exercises: Clear, step-by-step instructions for movements like Clock Toe Taps, Counter Squats, and the High March.
- Joint Mobility Techniques: Learn Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs) to lubricate your joints and reduce stiffness because "motion is lotion."
- Active Sitting and Standing: Discover how to turn everyday posture into a core-strengthening, bone-loading exercise.
- Modifications for Every Ability: Safe variations for all levels, including seated options for those who are unable to stand for long periods.
- Confidence-Building: Break the vicious cycle of fear and safely rebuild the strength needed to tackle your bucket list.
Forget grueling workouts or complicated routines. You don't need special equipment or a gym membership. Balance and Your Body focuses on "functional fitness"—movements that train your body for everyday activities so you can maintain your independence without pain. Remember, practice makes progress, not perfect!
Don't let the fear of falling dictate how you live your life. Take back control of your body and your independence today.
