The pages of a Sherlock Holmes story are transportive things. They move readers through the cloistered sitting room at 221-B Baker Street in late 19th Century Victorian London amid the cluttered sideboard, the inviting armchairs, the comforting hearth, the sprawling divan, the formidable bookshelves - all the beloved trappings in the room of the world's greatest detective and his faithful associate.  The stories unfold and the readers can almost sense the physical presence of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, characters whose vitality has defied the diminishments of time.

The stories in this new MX Publication by author William P. DeFeo draw back time's curtain and reveal new exploits of the long-famous detective and his devoted chronicler. Seven tales draw Holmes and Watson into the tangled webs of extortion, assault, infamy, and seemingly endless layers of deception. Every case in this volume is crafted as a tribute to the style of Holmes's inspired creator, Arthur Conan Doyle, and each story line is structured along the classic lines of the revered canon. Settings are immersed in the fog, shadows, and cobblestone alleys of old London.Characters are exposed to Holmes's restive inquiries and relentless observations. Plots are buoyed up from the fetid waters of London's 19th Century crime, criminals, and dissolution.  And in the animating rhythm of the pages, Sherlock Holmes comes alive and remains the unequaled master of logic, temerity, and stealth.

The cases and adventures of Sherlock Holmes are our constant, faithful, and patient friends. The stories continue to delight us, especially when they stand true to their treasured foundations of mystery, irony, and perplexity. The Baker Street Bookshelf is a collection that honors those foundations and strives to uphold them on every page. Let those pages transport you to Baker Street and submerge you in a world of timeless literary allure.
