Item description from seller

Original colour illustrated wraps 21x29cm. Printed at the Government Press, Ministry of Information, Bahrain. 93, (1)pp including folding sheet, many colour and b/w photos, maps, plans, and reproductions of paintings + 1 folding plan bound in towards the end. Very good, lightly creased to the corners. This presents the story of the "slowly falling into decay" fortress of Qalat al-Bahrain, from archaeological evidence excavated by the University of Paris, Bahrain's Department of Antiquities, and Bahrain School, and scattered records consulted in libraries in Lisbon, Paris and Istanbul. In 3 parts it describes 16th Century political and military events (by Monik Kervran), the Bahrain fort (by Foucherre, Kervran, Gionata Rizzi, Margo Renisio and Axelle Rougeulle), and architect Inofre de Carvalho (by Rafael Moreira). The folding topographical survey was done by Steve Hamey at the Bahrain Ministry of Housing.
