Cal Finch has a serious problem: whenever he tells the truth, it sounds exactly like a terrible lie.
So when Pine Hollow Middle School’s hundred-year-old time capsule disappears during a blackout—and the security footage shows someone wearing Cal’s red hoodie—everyone thinks the mystery is already solved.
Everyone except Cal.
To clear his name, Cal forms the Bad Alibi Club with fact-loving Priya, gadget-obsessed Moose, fearless Tasha, and one snack-stealing ferret.
Their investigation sends them racing through hidden school corridors, dodging suspicious security systems, chasing runaway parade floats, and dealing with far more mayonnaise than any mystery should contain.
But the closer they get to the truth, the guiltier they look.
Can the Bad Alibi Club expose the real thief before Founders’ Day ends—or will Cal’s unbelievable truth become the perfect alibi for someone else?
A fast, funny middle-grade mystery packed with friendship, action, ridiculous disasters, clever clues, and the world’s least cooperative ferret.
Perfect for readers ages 8–12 who enjoy hilarious mysteries, unlikely heroes, secret passageways, and nonstop adventure.
