"Backup" charts the extraordinary odyssey of a space-hardened freighter pilot and her loyal robot companion, hauling cargo across the farthest reaches of the galaxy. On a routine mission to deliver ore, the pilot's life is lost in tragic accident.

But her story doesn't end-it restarts centuries later when she awakens in a lab, resurrected by a hyper-advanced civilization using a copy of her genetic code. She's alive again...but not completely whole. Stripped of key emotional memories and the personal connections that came to define her, she must navigate a world she doesn't recognize while grappling with the unsettling truth: the person she was is gone forever, and what remains may only be a reflection.

Blending sci-fi adventure with philosophical depth, Backup is a haunting meditation on identity, memory, and what truly makes us human in an era where technology can revive the soul-but maybe not the bonds that created it.

Hal Jay Greene writes novels that read like a Shakespearean comedy of errors, but with more robots. Blending high-stakes drama with sharp wit, the Colorado-based author crafts stories where every twist feels like destiny and every laugh hides a lurking shadow.
