The Memphis Parks Literacy Series

Step into the imaginations of young storytellers from the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. This inspiring 10-book series features original works written by inner-city youth who turned the tables-this time, they are the authors. With the encouragement of Ms. Ericia and the Memphis Parks Literacy Program, these talented kids captured their voices and visions on the page.

From heartfelt reflections on life in the projects to thrilling tales of ghosts who save the day, these stories are full of heart, humor, and hope.

Cameron, Irby, and Anaya were just riding bikes around the neighborhood-until they spotted the old, crumbling house at the end of Crooked Elm Street. What started as a silly idea to explore it quickly turned into the scariest, strangest adventure of their lives. The moment the door slammed shut behind them, they were trapped... and time inside the haunted house began to move in mysterious ways. Before they knew it, a whole year had passed-and Irby missed his 10th birthday!

Now, the only way back to 2006 is to find three hidden keys, unlock the right door, and outsmart a ghost who really doesn't want to be caught. From creepy basements and haunted dollhouses to ghost chases and stinky refrigerators, the friends must stick together to solve the mystery and escape.

Will they make it home in time for Irby's birthday? Or will they be stuck in the haunted house forever?

A spooky, funny, and fast-paced adventure full of friendship, surprises, and a ghost with a serious sweet tooth!
