Synopsis:
This Advent study has five sessions – one for each Sunday of Advent plus Christmas readings for use on the Sunday after Christmas or other time when the study group meets. The readings are taken from the Revised Common Lectionary, using the NRSV. The Old Testament, Epistle and Gospel readings are used each lersson. Each reading is related to the theme of the session in which it appears and to the seasons of Advent and Christmas. A brief exegesis and commentary are provided for each reading. The readings are personal so readers can see how they apply to their lives, both as individuals and as Christians within a group or congregation. Questions at the end of each section encourage each reader to reflect on the meaning of the reading as developed in the commentary. These are personal questions, and the separate leader’s guide contains group discussion questions.
