401 pages, and advert leaf at rear printed recto only. Canadian issue in scarce unrestored jacket. Apparently much read, with reading/book club list of 26 participants tipped to front free endpaper. There are two blank ffeps, with gutter open to mull between that and the half title - also split to mull at rear between final leaf and board. First few and final few leaves foxed and stained; else not bad. The readers are to be commended for preserving the jacket in brown paper with edges secured using red sealing wax. An oval hole to spine of vernacular jacket is represented as sunning to original. Jacket splitting for 2 inches from head and from foot along upper hinge, but remains in one piece. Less splitting along lower hinge. Elsewhere nicked and a one inch closed tear running from lower right corner front panel. Moderate staining to rear panel. No price on jacket flap.
