About this Item

Description:

[2],75pp. Modern three-quarter calf and marbled boards, spine gilt. Internally clean. Very good. "The Third Edition Corrected," following two other editions of the same year. An interesting and wide-ranging survey of British foreign affairs in the wake of American independence. The anonymous author notes that "the balance of power, which has exercised the talents, and agitated the passions of the European world, for near a century past, is now entirely destroyed, and a fresh equilibrium is to be sought after in the nice equipoise of new divisions and subdivisions of alliance, power, jealousy and competition." Issues of trade, colonies, and relations with the European powers are all considered, but a large focus is on the need to deal with the United States, with regard to trade in the West Indies and other commercial issues. Not in Kress or Goldsmiths. AMERICAN CONTROVERSY 83-15c. SABIN 7853. Seller Inventory # WRCAM38190
