Reprint of the 1940 Houghton Mifflin edition. [10], 322 pages. Hardcover: H 20.75cm x L 14cm. Dust jacket with color pictorial front panel; shallow chipping and a few tears as well as some creasing/bumping at edges; soiling to white spine and white rear panel; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Brown boards with slight bumping at edges. Light toning to endpapers; some scattered soiling to interior leaves which, overall, remain clean. Binding is firm. B/w illustrations by Paul Brown. Features twelve short stories: "The Luck of Roaring Camp;" "The Outcasts of Poker Flat;" "Tennessee's Partner;" "How Santa Claus Came to Simpson's Bar;" "High-Water mark;" "M'Liss;" "An Ingenue of the Sierras;" "A Ward of Colonel Starbottle's;" "Miggles;" "A Knight-Errant of the Foothills;" "Dick Boyle's Business Card;" and "Plain Language from Truthful James." OCLC indicates Somerset editions were issued in 1947 and 1948 but this book has no clearly indicated printing date.
