About this Item

A basically as-new copy of the first book of this popular modern writer in the detective genre. The first Harry Bosch mystery, set in the city of noir, Los Angeles. This copy was ONE OF THE FIRST SIGNED by Connelly, apparently at his first formal book signing in L.A. on Feb. 1 of the year of publication per the date he has written in. Signature is one of his nice early ones in that he has nearly written out his name in full. This copy in never-read bookstore condition, bright and without any major flaws, though the lower corner of back jacket flap has been clipped along the scissors line. Consumer rebate wrap-around band also missing, but front flap is not price-clipped. Nice example of one of the earliest copies. Size: Octavo, 375pp. Bookseller Inventory # 752

About this title

Synopsis:

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch -- hero, maverick, nighthawk -- the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal.

The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell. Now, Bosch is about to relive the horror of Nam. From a dangerous maze of blind alleys to a daring criminal heist beneath the city to the tortuous link that must be uncovered, his survival instincts will once again be tested to their limit.

Joining with an enigmatic and seductive female FBI agent, pitted against enemies inside his own department, Bosch must make the agonizing choice between justice and vengeance, as he tracks down a killer whose true face will shock him.

From the Inside Flap:

The Bookcassette® format is a special recording technique developed as a means of condensing the full, unabridged audio text of a book to record it on fewer tapes. In order to listen to these tapes, you will need a cassette player with balance control to adjust left/right speaker output. Special adaptors to allow these tapes to be played on any cassette player are available through the publisher or some US retail electronics stores.
