BEYOND THE DREAM
Windows to Awakening on a Magical Island in Thailand
What if the life you are trying to perfect is the dream you need to wake from?
After a lifetime of success, wealth, travel, and adventure, Hanno begins to sense that something is missing.
Not outwardly—but quietly, beneath the surface.
A question appears and refuses to leave:
Is this all there is?
That question carries him to Thailand, into a meditation retreat, and into an encounter with a mysterious Master—not a teacher asking for belief, but a guide pointing him toward direct seeing.
What follows is an extraordinary journey inward.
Into the architecture of the mind.
Into fear, craving, identity, karma, memory, death, and the roots of suffering itself.
Eventually, Hanno enters the visionary landscape of a Magical Island in Thailand, where questions once considered philosophical become immediate and deeply personal:
Who am I beneath thought, memory, and identity?
Why does suffering continue even when life appears complete?
How does conditioning shape the reality I experience?
What is karma—and what has centuries of belief added to it?
What remains when even the seeker is released?
Through an unfolding dialogue between seeker and Master, Beyond the Dream explores:
-
Buddhist insight and Vipassana meditation
-
craving, reaction, conditioning, and the construction of identity
-
karma beyond punishment, cosmic debt, and moral accounting
-
death, rebirth, continuity, and letting go
-
religion, ritual, devotion, and spiritual identity
-
mystical experience versus genuine freedom
-
equanimity, compassion, non-clinging, and liberation
The book does not ask readers to adopt another belief system.
It asks them to look.
To examine experience directly.
To question what the mind adds.
To notice how quickly thought becomes story, story becomes identity, and identity becomes something to defend.
This is not a book of beliefs.
It is a mirror.
Rooted in the wisdom of the Buddha yet written for anyone who has wondered whether achievement, success, identity—even spirituality itself—can become another part of the dream.
Readers drawn to the spiritual inquiry of Eckhart Tolle, the self-investigation of Ramana Maharshi, the inner journey of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, and the direct observation of Vipassana meditation may find familiar territory here—approached through a distinctive contemporary journey of story, dialogue, meditation, and awakening.
Praise for Beyond the Dream“A brilliantly conceived and deeply moving account of a transformational journey into the depths of the human mind… destined to become a classic spanning multiple disciplines.”
— Dr. Martha Stark, MD, Faculty, Harvard Medical School
“A rare blend of wisdom, clarity, and spiritual depth… a profound and inspiring message for our modern world.”
— Robert M. Goldman, MD, PhD, DO, FAASP, Co-Founder & Chairman, American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M)
Perhaps the deepest question is not whether the dream is real.
Perhaps it is:
Who is the one living it?
Begin the journey.
