Early printing (1922 at foot of title page; five-line publisher statement and Scribner's colophon on title leaf verso; leaf of publisher advertisements at rear). [10], 1-449, [1], [2] pages. Hardcover: H 19.25cm x L 13.5cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Dull green cloth; stains to front and rear boards with fraying to bumped corners; small cloth loss at frayed spine ends; spine's gilt stamped title/author lettering near head dulled but still legible with Scribner's gilt at heel mostly flaked away (as usual) but discernable. Text block edges toned; deckle fore-edge. Endpapers well toned/foxed with some remnant impressions of erased pencil notations; past owner's boldly written ink signature at top of front free endpaper; bottom margin tear to pages 1-2; interior leaves toned at margins; some scattered stains and soiling; tears at top margins of pages 361-400. Binding is firm. Aforementioned unpaged leaf of publisher ads at book's rear promotes twelfth printing of "This Side of Paradise" on recto and fifth printing of "Flappers and Philosophers" on verso.
