A good clean sound copy of the rare (and little known) "Windemere" edition of Castillo's works, reprinted from the Stokesley Pratt imprint of 1858 Small 8vo.xxxix. 376pps. Irish born poet and singer songwriter Castillo spent most of his life in the North Yorkshire village of Lealholm and died in nearby Pickering. This collection contains his best known poems "Auld Isaac" and "The Steeplechase" and " A life of the author written by himself". His work is often credited as having rescued the ancient language of the Dales. Reproductions in numerous digitised versions abound but the original editions are rare.
