Cloud development can feel overwhelming when every tutorial assumes you already understand serverless computing, queues, events, identity, monitoring, and deployment. This book changes that.
Azure Functions with .NET 10 gives you a clear, practical path from your first Azure Function to reliable, production-ready serverless applications built with C#. No previous experience with Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, distributed tracing, managed identities, or Azure hosting plans is required. Basic familiarity with C# and .NET will help, while every unfamiliar cloud concept is introduced before you use it.
Instead of learning disconnected features, you will build CargoPulse, a realistic event-driven logistics application that grows chapter by chapter. Each new concept is introduced in manageable steps, with explanations that show not only what to do, but why it matters.
Mistakes are treated as part of the learning process. You will test failures, retry messages, handle duplicates, troubleshoot configuration, and verify each stage so that small wins gradually become real cloud-engineering confidence.
Key Features-
Learn Azure Functions with the modern .NET 10 isolated worker model
-
Build practical HTTP, Timer, Queue, Blob, Event Grid, and Service Bus workflows
-
Follow one cumulative real-world project instead of isolated examples
-
Understand retries, poison messages, dead-letter queues, idempotency, and concurrency
-
Secure workloads with managed identity, RBAC, and Microsoft Entra ID
-
Test, monitor, trace, and troubleshoot distributed serverless applications
-
Deploy production infrastructure using Bicep and GitHub Actions
-
Reinforce every chapter with summaries, checklists, review questions, and practical exercises
You will learn how to design and build serverless and event-driven applications with C#, structure .NET isolated-worker projects, create HTTP and scheduled Functions, process asynchronous work with Azure Storage Queues, react to Blob events, integrate Event Grid, and implement reliable Service Bus messaging.
You will also learn how to make real systems dependable through bounded retries, duplicate-safe processing, durable idempotency, concurrency control, managed identity, least-privilege security, OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, scaling, automated deployment, and production troubleshooting.
By the end, you will understand not only how to build Azure Functions applications, but also how to decide when Azure Functions is the right architectural choice.
Who This Book Is ForThis book is for C# and .NET developers who are new to Azure Functions, serverless computing, or event-driven architecture. It is also suitable for self-learners and developers who want a structured, hands-on route from fundamentals to production-oriented Azure development.
