Paperback. A down-on-his-luck book salesman, specializing in all things street fiction, Rodney Gilcrest finds out the hard way that his volatile, overbearing personality traits have ultimately led to a messy divorce and the termination of his long-term librarian career. Thus begins his creepy, unhealthy obsession for one O'Kevia Smith better known as Onyx, the wildly popular bestselling urban fiction novelist. Once Rodney establishes an unlikely platonic friendship with Onyx, a nightmarish series of events unfolds, leading to kidnapping and murder as the deranged, street hustler's psychotic fixation for the sexy, young author snowballs.
