About this Item
("Elsa")* 1 page, Chiswick, W4, UK, to Mrs. D. H. Lawrence on a one penny government postcard, postmarked 12 Sep, 1923. 4 1/2" x 3 1/2". Very good. Elsa sets up a meeting on Saturday afternoon at her "Aunt Kit's" flat. The name on flat is Lipscombe at 22 Carlton Mansions, Child's Hill, Finchley Rd. Frieda was on a visit to London alone. D. H. Lawrence had remained in California (see letter of 17 September 1923 to S. S. Koteliansk). *We assume this is Elsa Weekley (later Mrs. Seaman). Frieda Lawrence (1879-1956), later Mrs. Ravagli; was married to D.H. Lawrence in 1914 until his death in 1930. D. H. Lawrence (1885-1930), English author; wrote "Lady Chatterley's Lover" (1928), which was banned in both England and the U.S. for many years. Seller Inventory # 611335
