(In French) Approximately 12-1/8" x 8-1/5. two pages. "The first day of June, 1774, at nine o'clock in the morning" begins this request of a widow from St. Louis to the Lieutenant Governor Don Pedro Piernas, to dissolve her joint estate with her first husband in order that she can marry again. The document recites the names of the children from the marriage, and names friends who are in support. Marianne Gerome signed with her mark, as did some of the other parties: Pedro Piernas signed with a flourish, and the witnesses, one Jph de Piernas (son?) and Eugenio Albanez (the ink from his signature has partially eaten through the paper). A little browned and chipped at outer folds with no loss of text. Bookseller Inventory # 8361
