About this Item
Second printing of Malcolm X's autobiography, published nine months after his assassination and co-written with Alex Haley, who based the book on a series of in-depth interviews he conducted between 1963 and 1965. The Autobiography serves as a spiritual conversion narrative, outlining Malcolm X's philosophy of black pride, black nationalism, and pan-Africanism. Following Malcolm X's death, Haley wrote the book's epilogue, detailing their collaborative process and the events leading up to his demise. New York: Grove Press, 1965. Publisher's black cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt; pp. xvi, 455. A near fine copy in a very good, price-clipped dust jacket. Binding firm and sturdy, minimal wear to boards, faint surface discoloration and spotting to top edge of text block, internally clean with no markings. Jacket shows light shelfwear, rubbing and toning with a few small black spots to spine, protected in archival mylar. Seller Inventory # ABE-1684771409041
