The author was for 14 years the sub-collector of customs at Port Darwin, Northern Territory of South Australia, and now clerk assistant of the House of Assembly, Adelaide. He reports with enthusiasm on his travels throughout the Territory as well as its tropical geography and history, and provides points for intending settlers, including fishing and hunting. Notable mention of Aborigines (though not generally positive), Chinamen (stated as a potential future source of cheap and reliable labour), as well as Malay traders. With 56 illustrations.
