Augustine On Prayer 978-0-89942-171-1
Augustine on Prayer provides an excellent summary of Saint Augustine's extensive teachings on prayer. By Rev. Thomas A. Hand, O.S.A., this book explores St. Augustine's teachings on the role of prayer in the life of Christians. This Saint, who is a Doctor of the Church and considered a religious genius, incorporated lessons from his own life and misspent youth into his informative teachings. Augustine on Prayer is an important resource for all believers wishing to learn from this brilliant Saint.
The prayers of St. Augustine hold immense spiritual value, offering profound insights into the nature of God, the human soul, and the journey of faith. As one of the most influential Church Fathers, Augustine's prayers reflect his deep longing for divine truth, mercy, and grace. They serve as a guide for Christians seeking to grow closer to God through humility, repentance, and love.

- Notes/Bibliography
One of the greatest values of Augustine's prayers is their intense focus on the transformation of the heart. His famous plea, "You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in You," expresses the universal human yearning for God. His prayers encourage believers to surrender their desires and struggles to God, trusting in His providence and love.
Additionally, Augustine's prayers are a model of repentance. His Confessions are filled with prayers of contrition, demonstrating that true conversion requires both sorrow for sin and the grace of God. These prayers teach humility, emphasizing that human weakness can only be overcome through divine assistance.
His prayers also express a deep love for Scripture and wisdom, urging believers to seek God through His Word. They inspire a contemplative approach to faith, blending reason and devotion.
Ultimately, Augustine's prayers remain valuable because they resonate across centuries, offering timeless guidance for those striving to grow in holiness and experience the fullness of God's grace.

Our History: Coas Books was founded in 1983 by archaeologist Pat Beckett. It started out as an archaeological publishing company specializing in anthropology books. As Pat's vast collection of books continued to grow, he purchased a local paperback exchange, and with that Coas Books was born. The name Coas has its roots in archaeology, coming from the Nahuatl term “coa” — meaning digging stick —, and the acronym for "Center of Anthropological Studies". Today, Coas Books is run and operated by Mike and Veronica Beckett as they continue to proudly serve the community in the heart of Las Cruces.…
