Many ministry leaders don’t know what leadership looks like outside all of their striving. For some, they unknowingly and unintentionally, lead from a place of exhaustion, discouragement, and a soul untethered from its centeredness in God. This means if they are weary, distracted, or restless, these inner realities form the essence of their ministry. Most tragically, with the pace and weight of ministry and the pressure of productivity, ministry leaders can lead fractured lives and become less and less committed to a holistic way of leadership.
Jesus is not calling you to a life of burnout and constant activity but to be attentive to the right things; things that would bring life to your souls and to those you serve.
All There is not another "how-to lead like a CEO" leadership book, but an invitation to a holistic and life-giving way of leadership and authentic ministry. All There is unique in examining leadership that is less about striving and more about noticing God's invitations; leadership that does not begin with our initiative or ingenuity but about paying attention to what God is already doing and participating in the unique work we are given to do; leadership where God's mission is not what we do but about becoming a grace-fill presence to others.
After more than a decade of mentoring top-level ministry leaders, Dr. Gail Johnsen responds to these questions:
How does a leader lose their soul in the midst of leadership?
What is a leader’s first responsibility?
What ability do leaders want most in their leadership?
What is the precursor to integrated leadership?
How do we lead courageously in a shifting culture?
Why our formation matters in God’s kingdom purposes.
What is our most essential role as a leader?
What is the most significant relational skill a minister can possess today?
What does it mean to be “on mission?”
Whatever your ministry context, the kind of leadership needed for today relies heavily on the person of the leader and ultimately plays an integral part in Jesus’ missional purposes. In an increasingly complex and shifting culture, All There is about living and leading as congruently and redemptively as possible for others.
