Paperback. The period from December 7, 2016 to September 2, 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of the participation of the United States in World War II. You can find books that look at the war in many different ways. In some books, you will read about the heads of state or those who led the armies and navies involved in the global conflict. In other books, you will read about the weapons and the battles in which they were used. But what about the home front? How did ordinary people try to cope with the war? Some of them turned to science fiction as a means of escape. However, science fiction did not stand in isolation from the war. There were many connections between science fiction and World War II. The top science fiction magazine at that time was Astounding Science-Fiction. How were Astounding and other magazines affected by the war? What were the wartime activities of the authors? How was the content of Astounding, both fiction and non-fiction, influenced by the war? Did ideas developed by those people associated with Astounding have any effects on military or naval technology? In An ASTOUNDING War, you will find the answers to these and many other fascinating questions. This item is printed on demand.
