About the Author
Jess Nevins is a librarian at Lone Star College in Tomball, Texas, and is the author of a number of books on nineteenth and twentieth century popular literature, including The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana (2005), The Evolution of the Costumed Avenger: The 4000-Year History of the Superhero (2017), and The Encyclopedia of Pulp Heroes (2017). He lives in Tomball with his wife Alicia and son Henry.
As a boy, Russ Thorne loved reading Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, playing Hero Quest and poring over issues of 'White Dwarf', admiring the cover art in the process. Later he studied English Literature and got to know Homer's heroes and a bit of Beowulf, before beginning a career as a writer and editor. Since then he's published books on tattoo art, body piercing and vampires and writes regularly for national newspapers including the Independent.
Sarah Dobbs is a freelance writer and digital producer who’s contributed to Total Film, SFX, SciFiNow, Wired, and Horrorville. She was a founding editor on pop culture website Den of Geek, and now co-hosts monthly horror movie podcast Casting The Runes. She owes her love of science fiction to her mum, who got her started on Star Trek: The Next Generation and The X Files at an early age.
A multiple Hugo award winner Langford is a British author, editor and critic, heavily active within the science fiction field. He publishes the science fiction fanzine and newsletter Ansible and appears regularly on panels at SciFi conventions worldwide.
