An Associate’s First Year is full of practical suggestions that can help new associates gain confidence and thrive in the first year of practice at a law firm. Chapters written by more than a dozen experts—including partners, professional development directors, and other legal industry professionals—advise on an array of issues, such as time management, personal branding, use of technology, meeting expectations of supervising attorneys, receiving and responding to feedback, working with support staff, self-care, career planning, and more. Among other revisions, the second edition addresses recent changes in how lawyers work, including hybrid and remote work. The book includes new chapters on the use of AI in law practice and on judicial clerkships to advance one's career.
