May 2024. Inspector Iria Santaclara has withdrawn from active service to care for her husband, Ángel, who is recovering from a stroke. Her plans soon change when she receives a mysterious phone call from Ulises Villamor, the owner of a waste management empire and one of the country’s richest men. He summons Iria to the mansion in Loeiro where he lives with his children and grandchildren, and where his wife was murdered four years ago. Villamor believes the killer was a member of the family, and he asks Iria to unofficially investigate the case. The prospect of paying for a potentially life-saving treatment for Ángel in Germany persuades her to take the job, and another murder soon follows. Iria finds an unexpected ally in her former boss, the recently retired César Araújo, as she unravels the secrets hidden behind the walls of the Pink House.
Arantza Portabales, “one of the trendiest, best-known, most powerful noir authors” (Carles Francino, La Ventana), surprises readers once more with this intriguing new series, confirming her status as “the first lady of crime in Spanish” (El Correo).
