Add to basketA chill ran down his spine, shortly followed by the audible fluttering of a moth’s wings lingering directly above where he lay. With a sudden jolt he looked up, but his suspected winged companion was nowhere to be found. His attention swiftly turned to the entrance of the ward, where he heard slow footsteps coming from down the hall…
Toby Whitman’s life is going nowhere. Stuck in the humdrum town he grew up in, Toby endures his life as a high-school English teacher with aspirations of one day becoming a successful novelist. Plagued by the aftermath of a rough break-up and all too real dreams of being abandoned in a desolate wasteland with only a lone death’s-head hawkmoth for company, Toby wonders when his life will truly begin. But when his life is abruptly shaken by a diagnosis that challenges his attitude towards an existence long taken for granted, Toby is visited by the Sixth Incarnation of Death. His message? That in thirty days he will die and ascend as the Seventh, and the Last, Incarnation of Death. As Toby’s condition grows evermore severe, he races against time to cheat his bleak destiny. But if Death himself cannot cheat his own demise, then what hope remains for Toby Whitman?
Centered around themes of mortality, sickness and faith, The Ascension of the Seventh is an emotional journey into Death’s Darkest Day...
